Opening Kick

Opening Kick is a segment devoted to bringing you all Eagles and USA rugby related news in one location.

Eagles:

The last date of the Eagles Summer tests has been set after it was announced that Infinity Park would see the Eagles host Georgia on June 16th.

Tickets will go on sale tomorrow for the U.S.A. match against Canada in Kingston on June 9th.

As part of the preparations for the Summer tests, coach Mike Tolkin is having a domestic camp from May 30-June 2 at West Point.

One player that will certainly feature for the Eagles this Summer is Chris Biller, who saw his first action for Northampton today. Biller came on in the second half for the Northampton Wanderers against the British Army and scored a try to tie the match.

The Eagles have rounded out their coaching staff. Dave Hodges, Tony Smeeth, Dan Payne, Chris O'Brien, Dave Williams, Paul Goulding, and Tristan Lewis have all been included on the staff. You can read more about their backgrounds here.

One positional coach missing from that list is a scrum coach. Apparently one is still in the works.

RugbyRugby has a nice tribute to Kevin Swiryn.

Vanesha McGee checks in before the team heads off to Hong Kong.

The Glendale Raptors topped the Women's Cougar Rugby over the weekend.

Youth:

The 16 boy's and 8 girl's teams have been announced for the High School 7's tournament to be played in conjunction with the CRC.

Gonzaga Prep has won the Jesuit Rugby Classic Championship for the third year in a row.

Washington State teams Chuckanut and Liberty went at it over the weekend. Rugbymag has the video.

Tidbits:

Some members of the U.S.A. Rugby community are chipping in to help rugby in Laos.

Here is a nice profile on the San Francisco Fog, an all inclusive club.
