Walker Steps Down As Belmont Coach

James Walker is stepping down as coach of Belmont Shore 7's in order to focus more on Tiger Rugby according to an e-mail sent from Walker to TIAR. Peter Sio will be taking over as coach. "Even though I will still be around helping new coach Peter Sio from a mentoring aspect, it's still very much a bitter sweet moment for me," said Walker. Walker had planned to step aside last season but when Belmont Shore lost a lot of player he felt he could not leave the team in a lurch. Walker was proud to point out that he team had seven consecutive national appearances and winning the last two national titles.

With the announcement of the Olympic Development Academy system Walker had become more heavily involved in Tiger Rugby alongside partner Paul Holmes. The group has been in discussion with sponsors to enhance the program, taking up much of Walker's time.
