During his tenure Magleby has done much to built the Eagles program. He was a large instigator of the Olympic Development Academy system and was vital in expanding the number of residency contracts. On the field Magleby led the Eagles to the Cup quarterfinals in five of the nine IRB Sevens Series stops and helped guide them to three straight Plate final appearances at the end of the season. Magleby was also instrumental in helping the team escape the relegation playoffs.
U.S.A. Rugby will immediately begin the search for the next head coach.
What do you think of the news? How would you rate Magleby as coach?

This is curious. Wonder if there is pressure coming from the USOC to get results now, or they don't have confidence that Alex can deliver a medal in Rio. What we can be sure of is that the rugby media will not reveal anything.
ReplyDeleteMags, thanks for taming the beast and giving us hope in the process. I cannot imagine how difficult this decision must have been. You were on track to being a great national 7s coach. Enjoy your life, sir.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the things that Mags did (& Al laid the foundation for him doing this) was to show the world the potential held by US Men's rugby. Nigel, et al should have no end of high-level applicants, foreign and domestic, for this vacancy.
