Nations Cup
The Women's National Team suffered a bit of a setback at the Nations Cup after they lost to the U.S. 29-17 on Sunday. The match was to originally take place on Saturday but thunderstorms and a tornado warning moved the matches one day. The loss drops Canada to 1-1 with a match against 0-2 South Africa later in the week. Canada seemed to have an advantage in the match thanks to some ill-discipline from the Americans but it didn't work out that way as they fell behind 10-5 at the half. Prop Laura Russell scored for Canada. In the second half the U.S. was simply too much. Canada got tries from Sammy Crandell and Mary-Jane Kirby but it wasn't enough.

Westhills Stadium To Expand
Westhills Stadium, the home of the Canadian Rugby Centre of Excellence, will be doubling its capacity to roughly 3,000 in the next few months according to the Victoria Times-Colonist. The stadium had been capable of holding that many with temporary seating but this makes that number permanent. As the stadium showed last year at the Americas Rugby Championship the appetite for rugby in Victoria is strong. The addition should allow the stadium to hold more events in the future. Half of the $465,000 cost comes from a government grant.
