Opening Kick

Opening Kick is a segment devoted to bringing you all Eagles and U.S.A. Rugby news in one location.

Eagles:

The current IRB Sevens Series is entering its final phase in a couple of weeks but eyes are already turning to next season as the Australian Rugby Union confirmed the Gold Coast 7's would take place on the 12th and 13th of October.

Head coach Alex Magleby plans on taking his team to Glasgow as late as possible in order to get solid training and recovery time in at the OTC.

On the women's side of things, the dates and venues for the 2014 Women's World Cup will be announced on Thursday.

Club:

With NYAC taking on the Ontario Blues on May 4th, could there be similar opportunities for top U.S. and Canadian teams to play each other?

NYAC are number two in our Elite Cup Power Rankings. SFGG still sit number one, Life three, and Seattle-OPSB four.

College:

Cal has released details of their Varsity Cup semi-final match against Navy this weekend. The match will take place at 2:00 p.m. pt at Witter Rugby Field. Broadcast details will be announced in the near future.
