New Zealand have managed to earn a healthy lead at the top of the IRB Sevens Series this year, but if you look at the rest of the table you'll see that by and large the Series is full of parity. Even with their lead the All Blacks can be caught by South Africa, Samoa, or Fiji if one of them gets hot. It's a similar situation at the bottom of the table with six teams trying to avoid the three relegation playoff spots. In my latest article at RugbyRugby I look more at the parity on the Series and the impact that the Olympics has had in creating that parity. As more countries turn toward Rio more money is flowing into programs with the hope that they could earn a medal. Whether that works out in the end is to be determined but as teams invest and develop better players, it makes for an exciting Series.
