Fenoglio is on the left. |
Fenoglio is the latest aspiring American to travel to New Zealand to gain more experience. Last year Eric Fry and Taylor Mokate both trained in the Wellington system with the Wellington Old Boys. Fry parlayed his play into a contract with Manawatu and then subsequently London Scottish. Mokate chose to play with the Eagles 7's but had an opportunity in the Heartland Championship. If things go well for Fenoglio, similar opportunities could be available.
Any chance of a list of all the Americans playing overseas?
ReplyDeleteMost players currently playing are included in our Eagles Abroad section. http://www.thisisamericanrugby.com/2013/01/eagles-abroad-weekend-preview-tv_11.html Some of the players out of season include (this also counts U.S.-eligible players):
ReplyDeleteMarcel Brache (Stormers)
(Fudge Mabeta (Bulls)
James Hilterbrand (Western Force, extended playing squad)
Casey Rock (playing in the Queensland league in Australia)
JJ Gagiano (Western Province league)
Derek Asbun (University of Cape Town)
I may have missed on or two so if you know someone, please share.
I assume that USA Rugby is picking up the tab to pay for the 3 month program this Eagle is participating in at the Canterbury Academy. Right? Or are the fees out of this young man's pocket?
ReplyDeleteHe has to pay for it himself
