MLR Power Rankings: A Few Changes

A few changes in our power rankings this week. The Utah Warriors move up a couple of spots. Austin also move up while San Diego and NOLA fall.

1. Glendale Raptors (Last Ranking: 1): The Raptors continued their long layoff. No reason to drop them down. Up next: at NOLA

2. Seattle Seawolves (LR: 2): Absolutely not reason to drop the Seawolves down either. They have clearly established themselves in the top tier along with Glendale. They beat NOLA 55-26 and it wasn't even really that close. Their defense has proven to be excellent and they can score too. At this point it would be an upset if it wasn't a Raptors-Seawolves final. However, the June internationals could sap some strength, especially from their Canadian contingent. Up next: at Houston

3. Utah Warriors (LR: 5): The Warriors keep yo-yoing back and forth in our rankings. They go up again this week after beating Houston. As we've stated all along this season the Warriors are only getting better as the year goes along. With only three weeks left their season could be made or broken depending on their result against Austin. A win and they can smell the playoffs. Lose and they might need help. Up next: at Austin

4. San Diego Legion (LR: 3): The Legion had one of their most disappointing results of the season as they fell flat against Austin. Give credit to Austin but San Diego could have done so much better in the match. June might not be kind to them either with call-ups. Up next: Bye

5. Austin Elite (LR: 6): The Elite move up thanks to their strong win over San Diego. We could have moved them ahead of San Diego in our rankings but if you take the whole season into account we still think that San Diego are ahead by a hair. Up next: Utah

6. NOLA Gold (LR: 4): The Gold took a big hit with their loss to Seattle. After a decent start to the season the Gold have lost some momentum and need a swing to keep things going. It isn't going to get any easier this week as they have to play Glendale this week. If they fall once again they could be in major trouble. Up next: Glendale

7. Houston SaberCats (LR: 7): Houston have had their struggles this year. It continued against Utah. So many opportunities have been squandered by the side. They have their strengths but maybe those strengths aren't enough to counter the strengths of the rest of the league. One more loss and the playoffs will be a dream. Up next: Seattle
