Eagles Need Big Tournament In Langford

The Women Eagles need a positive result at this weekend's Langford 7s in order to move up the table. After doing well in Dubai--a second place finish--to start the season the team has finished in 8th and 9th the last two tournaments. That is good enough for 7th in the standings, not where they would like to be. Even more, this tournament is important for gaining momentum ahead of the Sevens World Cup in San Francisco this summer.

Head coach Richie Walker has gone with a veteran team for the tournament. Cheta Emba, Ryan Carlyle, Nana Fa'avesi, Nicole Heavirland, Kate Zackary, Lauren Doyle, Alev Kelter, and Naya Tapper are all involved. There are some relatively new players but overall the team is fairly experience. It also looks to have power. That could be important as they play Russia, France, and Japan. This is a pool in which the Eagles need to make the top eight. If they fall short then there will be big questions heading into the summer.
