Youth Update: Youth Olympics, Rosslyn Park 7s

A couple of notes to pass along in regards to youth.

Youth Olympics

The U.S. will have a team in the Youth Olympics after all. After missing out on qualification to Canada in both the boy's and girl's in Vegas the U.S. had had a reprieve on the boy's side of things. The Youth Olympics only permit the entry of one youth team in certain sports per country so when Canada's boy's field hockey team recently gained qualification it meant that the rugby team had to miss out. That loss is the U.S.'s gain as they now get that qualification spot. Now it's up to the U.S. to put together a team ahead of the tournament in October in Buenos Aires.

Utah at Rosslyn Park 7s

The Utah Cannibals went 2-2 at the Rosslyn Park 7s. The team started the day with a 29-12 win over the Canford School and then beat the Reading Blue Coat School 40-7. One more win would have done it to put them in the Plate or even the Cup but they lost to the St. John's School 36-12 and Clifton College 24-22 in a heartbreaker to finish their tournament. Still, few teams get the opportunity to get high level overseas opportunities like the Cannibals just had.
