Psalm Wooching Signs In Italy

After spending the last year training with the likes of Harlequins, playing in top 10s tournaments, and making his Eagles debut Psalm Wooching has signed a contract to play professional rugby. He's joined Viadana in the Italian Eccellenza for the upcoming season. Viadana are currently in the middle of the table in the Eccellenza. Several Americans have played in the competition in the past including Lou Stanfill, Inaki Basauri, and Roland Suniula this last season.

By moving to Italy Wooching is guaranteeing himself a year of solid rugby. It may not be on the same level as say a competition like the RFU Championship but it gives a full year training environment. That's something he can't get in America right now, even with Major League Rugby coming on line. In Italy he'll get 18 league matches and even more at the cup level. MLR currently only offers 8 league matches. That could of course change next year. Because Wooching is raw in terms of rugby, not fitness, getting to be in a nearly year-round environment is a good thing.
