Navy, Florida, Stars Name Rosters For LVI

Several more rosters for American teams have been named for the Las Vegas Invitational which starts today.

Stars Rugby 7s
The Stars have once again put together a strong team for Vegas. The organization has been a stalwart in putting together men's and women's teams that compete. This year on the women's side of things they are bringing in just three veterans of past Stars teams in Cyndi Campbell, Dana Alimena, and Lindsey Mahoney. Still, they have plenty of players coming from Canada, Arizona, Utah, New Zealand, California, and more. Every year the Stars need time to gel but they are usually putting in good performances by the end.

On the men's side there are more veterans returning. One of the more recognizable names of the roster includes Zack Forro from Notre Dame College and the Army 7s. Thereare a number of players from college programs as well as from clubs in D.C, Minnesota, Wyoming, and more.

Women: Dana Alimena, Tina Aprachamian, Julia Buescher, Cyndi Campbell, Hailey Driscoll, Lauren Dorsey, Jocelyn Jones, Iroha Kishimoto, Lindsey Mahoney, Carolyn McKee, Tyra Norlander, Justine Perl, Katey Sanders, Kathryn Stowers

As always the armed forces will be well represented at the tournament. This year the Navy is taking a select side once again. “As a player, captain, coach, and officer in charge (OIC) with All Navy Rugby since 2000, I’ve always felt that rugby is the ultimate team effort sport and what better occasion to work with a team representing that notion than a diverse cross section representing the greatest Navy the world has ever known?” said Officer in Charge CDR Tom Jones to TIAR.

Head coach Koma Gandy Fischbein would add: “I’m very excited to build on the momentum and energy from Rugbytown 7s. We have a talented squad, and we look forward to the level of competition and the opportunity to come together as a team to support the overall goals of All Navy Rugby.”

On the Navy team are players capped for Kenya in 7s and 15s, a capped rugby league player, players with High School All-American experience, and more.
