Wolfpack Win Championship Opener, Vaivai Signs In England

The Toronto Wolfpack have started out their quest for promotion from the Championship with a 34-12 win over the Leigh Centurions. It wasn't a great start for the Wolfpack as they trailed 12-10 at halftime. That's when they were able to turn it on to dominate the second half. The Wolfpack had several matches like this last year where they started a little slow and then were able to turn it on. Liam Kay, who also starred for Ireland at the World Cup in the summer, scored three tries in the match.

Leigh were playing in the Championship after being relegated from the Super League last year. The Wolfpack will be hoping that it's a sign at they belong in the Super League at the end of the year. Next week they take on the Barrow Raiders, the team they jockeyed with last year for promotion in League 1.

Vaivai Signs In England

USA Hawk Junior Vaivai, one of the stars of the team over the last year, has signed a contract with the Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League in England. Vaivai, who is the cousin of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, grew up in New Zealand and played in the NRL with South Sydney and Penrith.
