Eric Fry Extends Vannes Contract

The good news for American props staying in Europe keeps coming with the news that Eric Fry has extended his contract with Vannes once again. Fry signed a two year extension with the club around this time last year and now he's extended through the summer of 2020. His extension follows on the heels of Titi Lamositele extending his contract with Saracens.

Fry has battled injury concerns this year but when healthy he was a regular feature for the Brittany club (which is closer to RFU Championship side Jersey geographically than most English clubs). This year he has seven starts in seven appearances but is making his way back from an injury. He joined Vannes last year after a short stint at Federale 1 side Saint Naizaire. After a handful of appearances at Saint Naizaire he ended up playing 19 times for Vannes. Before that Fry played a handful of games for the Sacramento Express in his hometown, spent a couple of seasons at Newcastle, and a couple of seasons at London Scottish. Before that he played for Manawatu in the Mitre 10 Cup. If healthy and at just 30 years old Fry could make his way back into the Eagles prop conversation.

  1. Fry should get his chance to come back out of the wilderness. While we're developing some depth at prop, he's still got to be one of our better props. Plus, props get better with age. He's very technically sound at the line out and is also good in open play (he was loose forward before converting to prop).
