Old Blue Quartet Offered Legion Contracts

Earlier in the day we noted that Ben Cima has announced that he will be joining the San Diego Legion. Soon he could be joined by a lot more players with Eagles experience. TIAR has learned that Old Blue and Eagles quartet Nate Augspurger, Cam Dolan, Dylan Fawsitt, and Tony Purpura have been offered contract by the Legion. However, we have not been able to confirm if those players have signed. If they do, which seems likely, that gives the Legion four very solid players ahead of the season. Augspurger gives them a starting scrumhalf to pair with Ben Cima at flyhalf. Fawsitt gives them one of the top two domestic hookers. Dolan brings years of professional experience overseas as well as numerous Eagles caps. Purpura is a very solid prop option.

While it seems likely that these players could turn out for the Legion they could also choose to stay in New York and play for Rugby Club New York. That team has ambitions to join Major League Rugby and has scheduled a number of friendlies to lead into that. The team is expected to have many players from Old Blue and NYAC on the roster so this Old Blue quartet could stay home, keep their day jobs, and play in MLR next year. When we confirm that they have signed we'll pass on word.
