Opening Kick

National Teams/MLR/ODAs:

Close but no cigar as the Eagles fell to Australia in the Cup final of the Silicon Valley 7s.

To reach the final the Eagles had to beat England. A recap of the other semi-finals in the Cup, Plate, and Bowl finals are here.

In the quarterfinals the U.S. beat Fiji. A full quarterfinal recap is here.

On day one the U.S. beat Tonga, New Zealand, and Chile.

In Major League Rugby news the Seawolves have signed Brock Staller and the Warriors have signed Paul Lasike.

It was the narrowest of margins but Central Washington beat Arizona to claim the College Fall Classic.

It was a rematch of earlier rounds where Central Washington was victorious as well.

On day one the favorites won in round one and in round two.

For their part the Central Washington women beat the Seattle Saracens.

Arkansas State beat local rival Arkansas. In other college news both Army and Navy won as did Notre Dame College and Northeastern.

Rugby League:

It hasn't been the best World Cup for the Hawks as they fell hard to Italy.

Nines is being shopped around as a new format for the World Cup.
