Eagles Abroad: Weekend Review

Eagles Abroad is brought to you by Grubber, makers of fine sporting apparel.

Another mixed weekend for Americans overseas. Some regulars got a rest while others finally got their chance. One of those players getting a chance was Chris Baumann. He came off the bench for Leicester in the Anglo-Welsh Cup and played 20 minutes. It was a good opportunity for Baumann to get time that has been rare so far this year. Even if he hasn't been seeing time he's been training in a high-level environment which is going to help. Another player to play in the Anglo-Welsh Cup was AJ MacGinty. He's been replaced by James O'Connor as the top choice flyhalf for Sale but he got to play over the weekend playing 80 minutes and kicking three conversions and a penalty. Andrew Durutalo started for the first time for Worcester. They played Sale. Most of the other action happened at the lower levels in Europe, especially in Ireland where there are a number of players now playing.

  1. why do you say that MacGinty has been replaced as the preferred starter for Sale over O'Connor?
O'Connor is new to Sale, and has to be broken in to be starting flyhalf while MacGinty is away on international duty.
But why say that he is the presumed preferred starter?
