CWU Makes Final, Three Others Alive In Fall Classic

Up first on the day was a must-win match between San Diego State and UC-Davis. Both teams lost a match on day one so that meant that whoever lost had to go home. With that motivation San Diego State came out firing and ran out to a 14-0 halftime lead. In the second half they only added to that for a 29-0 win.

The second match of the day was a slugfest between Cal Poly and USC. It took until the end of the half for one team to break through but Cal Poly were the first to find a try. The second half was more back and forth. USC equalized with a solid team try before Cal Poly scored with not much time left to seal the win.

Undefeated Central Washington and Arizona capped off the first set of matches. As expected the quality was high but neither team was able to find a try. Arizona had a great shout at the end of the half but it was ruled to have been knock-on rather than touched down.  A minute and a half Central Washington were finally able to get the match's first score with a try in the corner. That opened up the floodgates for Central as they soon pushed the score to 15-0.

Up next will be Cal Poly against San Diego State with the winner playing Arizona for a spot in the final and the loser going home.
