Hawks Name Starts For World Cup Opener

The Hawks have named their starting line-up for their World Cup opener on Saturday. It's arguably their most experienced line-up with a number of veteran players like Junior Vaivai, Mark Offerdahl, and the Howard brothers. Toronto Wolfpack players Ryan Burroughs and Joe Eichner will be there as will long-time club player Josh Rice.

On Saturday the team will take on Fiji in Townsville. It's a very difficult opening match for the Hawks as Fiji have a strong team. Jarryd Hayne is set to turn out for the squad. However, if the U.S. can come away with a result they will have put themselves in a good position.

Team: Corey Makelim, Ryan Burroughs, Junior Vaivai, Jonathan Alley, Bureta Farimo, Kristian Freed, Matthew Walsh, Eddy Pettybourne, David Marando, Mark Offerdahl (C), Danny Howard, Matt Shipway, Nicholas Newlin, Sam Tochterman-Talbott, Andrew Kneisly, Steve Howard, Gabe Farley, Charles Joseph Cortalano, Joe Eichner, David Ulch, Josh Rice
