DI Midwest: Metropolis Win Again, Chicago Stumbles

It was closer than expected but Metropolis came away with their 10th win and 10 tries as they beat Palmer 21-11 on the weekend. Palmer ran out to a 6-0 lead on two penalties from David Jerson but Metropolis fought back with two efforts to take a 12-6. In the end Palmer could only manage a try while Metropolis kicked three penalties from Bryan Ptomey.

The Chicago Lions are still the next closest team to Metropolis in the standings but are now 12 points adrift after losing to crosstown rivals the Chicago Griffins 44-15. The Lions were never really in the match as the Griffins, led by Andrew Suniula, played one of their best matches of the year.

With the Lions falling that opened up a door for Columbus. Unfortunately for them they couldn't take advantage as they fell to Cincinnati 40-31. The other match in the region saw the Kansas City Blues beat the Milwaukee Barbarians 50-33. The Blues are starting to make their way up the standings.
