DI Mid-Atlantic: Norfolk & Rocky Gorge Win Again

There were just matches in the Mid-Atlantic over the weekend. Leaders Norfolk and Rocky Gorge were both in action but they experienced very different matches. Rocky Gorge had no trouble beating Schuylkill River 57-12. It was a typical Rocky Gorge match where they were able to put a lot of points on the board.

The Norfolk Blues experienced a different kind of match as they outlasted newly promoted side Washington Irish 48-44. The Irish went ahead on a penalty early but then three straight tries put the Blues in front 21-3. Washington responded with two tries of their own to keep it close. The two teams continued to trade tries with Washington Irish taking 27-26 lead at halftime which was extended later in the half. At one point they had an 11 point lead in the second half. That's when Norfolk put in a comeback with three tries to win.

Despite playing one fewer match than most teams in the competition Norfolk have 25 points and Rocky Gorge have 24 points. The Pittsburgh Harlequins are the next closest with 18 points.
