WPL Opens Season

The Women's Premier League opened up with three matches over the weekend. The most anticipated match was out West where the Glendale Merlins and the Berkeley All Blues in the hot California sun.  The Merlins ran out to a 27 point lead before the All Blues stormed back and nearly took the match. Unfortunately they ran out of time as Glendale won 27-26. Justine Wypych, Leann Lam, Andrea Prusinski, and Sarah Chobot all had tries while Hannah Stolba contributed with her boot. It was that kicking that would be the difference. The wins puts the Merlins at the top of the Blue Conference.

In the Red Conference, the Twin Cities Amazon ran out big winners against the D.C. Furies 48-19. The other match in the conference saw Beantown beat the Atlanta Harlequins 39-22. Beantown were the leaders from start to finish.
