Hartford Raising Funds For Long-time Referee

Press Release

The 2nd Annual ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” will take place at CJ Sparrow Pub & Eatery in Cheshire CT at 2 PM on Sunday, October 1st. Funds will be raised for long-time Connecticut rugby player and referee Paul McCluskey by fundraiser entrant John Broker. Money raised for Paul will be split between ALS research and an education fund for Paul’s sons. This fundraiser will be part of a larger event raising money for people battling ALS.

Money can be donated at the event, directly to Paul’s team spearheaded by Broker, or through a GoFundMe site, which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/paul-mccluskey-als-challenge.

McCluskey will be on hand for the event, and would like to raise awareness of the cost of battling ALS by showing some of the equipment that assists him in his daily routine. Discussing the event, McCluskey stated, “The Ice Bucket Challenge at CJ Sparrows is exactly the kind of event that originally brought a view of ALS and its horrible effects to the masses. I’m proud of John Broker for continuing to keep ALS in the forefront of peoples minds, and I am very proud to be asked to be part of this awesome day.”
