DI: Mid-Atlantic Gets Underway

Photo: Washington Irish
The Mid-Atlantic kicked off their DI season over the weekend with a full slate of matches. Like the Midwest the Mid-Atlantic has traditionally been one of the early starters. No matter what time things start Rocky Gorge has consistently topped the league the last few years and they got off to a great start on Saturday beating Pittsburgh 49-28. Ben Cima once again did all the kicking for the club while Josh Brown added a couple of tries. The score was close at halftime, 21-14, before Rocky Gorge pulled away.

The Washington Irish are in the top division this year and they started on a very positive note beating the Baltimore-Chesapeake Brumbies 18-17. The score yo-yo'd throughout the match with the Burmbies holding a 17-15 edge for most of the second half. However, a late penalty from Taylor Teaford kicked the Irish to the win. Also winning on the weekend was Norfolk who beat the Potomac Exiles 43-10. Schuylkill River had the weekend off.
