Army, Air Force Pick Up Early College Wins

It's still early and many colleges and universities are not back in session yet but already the college rugby season is well underway. Helping lead the way in early action are the Armed Forces academies. Out East, Army picked up a pair of very solid wins. They topped New England College 42-24 and they beat American International College 56-29. It was the win over AIC that was especially impressive. The Yellow Jackets have been a very strong side in recent years but Army is in a great place right now. They have a good combination of athletes, skill, and fitness that makes them a real threat all year.

Out West, the Air Force had no trouble getting past Utah State 86-24. Again, it's early but that win over a solid Utah State team is a signal to the rest of the teams in the Rocky Mountain Conference. Elsewhere, a couple of Big 10 teams, Michigan and Minnesota, had different results. Michigan suffered a 45-10 loss to rivals Western Michigan. Minnesota edged Kansas 29-28. Also, Ohio State beat Bowling Green 27-0 and Iona beat James Madison 47-0.
