Lions, Metropolis Headed To Minneapolis

Throughout the summer the Chicago Lions and Metropolis battled for the top spots in the Midwest and it stayed that same way in the Midwest Championship over the weekend as both booked a spot at the Club 7s Nationals. Metropolis won the first tournament of the summer but after that the Lions went on a roll that continued with wins in the next three tournaments, including the Championship where they beat Metropolis 26-5.

In the lead up to the final the Lions and Metropolis both ran through pool play unbeaten and then won in the semi-finals. There was a chance that a team like Columbus that has plenty of talent might upset things but the Lions and Metropolis were deserved winners.

The Chicago Lions women's side didn't even need to play in the championships having already booked a "golden ticket" by winning each of the qualifier tournaments. That meant it was up to the rest of the field to claim the last spot. Minneapolis--formerly Youngbloodz--claimed that spot and will play in their home tournament alongside Metropolis.
