Chris Baumann Joining Leicester

After a couple of year absence there will once again by an American on the Leicester Tigers roster. Prop Chris Baumann is set to join the team for the upcoming season. Baumann has grown into his role with the Eagles since the last World Cup. He spent last season with the Denver Stampede in PRO Rugby before joining up with the Wellington Lions in the Mitre 10 Cup. He wasn't included on the Lions squad this year and now we now why. Leicester was previously home to Blaine Scully and Greg Peterson.

In a club press release head coach Matt O'Connor said: "We have a very strong group of front rows at the club and we’re delighted to be able to add another international prop to that group. Chris is highly-regarded and will provide even more competition in an already competitive position. He has been highly recommended to us and I am sure he will develop even further with us in our environment.”

Baumann said in the same release: “I was very impressed with everything I heard about Leicester, the club, the history, the support, and it was an easy decision to make to move to Premiership Rugby. I'm looking forward to the challenge of pre-season and playing my part in the squad.”
