Utah Seals Club 7s Nationals Spot, Red River Recap

We continue to look around the West this time at the Frontier and Red River.

Defending national champion Rugby Utah have sealed their return ticket to the Club 7s Nationals with a win at the Heartland 7s. That made it two for two at the Frontier qualifiers with one tournament to go. In pool play Utah beat the Denver Barbarians A (second side) 34-0 and then Kansas City 21-19. They would match up against both teams again first the Barbarians in the semi-finals and then the Blues in the final. The Barbarians match was another big win while they got past the Blues thanks to converting all of their tries.

Red River

The Austin Huns have forced a three way tie at the top of the Red River standings with a win at the Space City 7s. The Huns, the Austin Blacks, and the Dallas Reds have each now won one tournament with one to play. The Huns rolled through pool play with wins over HARC, Tulsa, the Reds, and the Blacks. Each team played a round-robin before the two played for the final. That meant that the Huns squared off against the Reds where they prevailed 33-5. The Blacks took third with a 28-0 win over HARC.

The ARPTC looked very good on the women's side once again beating the Valkyries. Both teams have been the best so far in the Red River and both have claimed Club 7s Nationals berths.
