South Panthers Win RAN Championship

The South Panthers are once again the champions of the Rugby Americas North. The Panthers made the trip to Guyana where they beat the home side 23-19 last Saturday. It's the second time the South has taken home the championship and it avenges a loss to Guyana back in 2014. The win is another big accomplishment for the South who continue to lead the way in terms of representative play in America.

John Bryant and Hein Eramus had tries for the South early. They would lead 13-0 at halftime and moved to 16-0 shortly after the half thanks to a Zach Miller penalty. Guyana came back to cut the lead to 16-7 before Jordon Gunderson extended the South's lead to 23-7. Guyana did come back with a couple of late tries to make it interesting but the South held on for the win.

After falling short the last few years the South will be ecstatic with the win over Guyana. The South Americans can be a tough outfit but the South have taken their preparation seriously this year and it paid off. They also had a bit of luck as well with Mexico losing a key match and putting the South in position to win the North Conference.
