Old Blue, Bulldog Claim 7s Nationals Berths

The Northeast has been tough this year with four teams vying for only two spots at the Club 7s Nationals. In the end it was close but Bulldog Rugby and Old Blue have earned a spot after a successful result at the Saratoga 7s. Old Blue went on to claim the tournament and have earned the top seed from the Northeast. Bulldog didn't start the season strongly but finished well. They beat Mystic River in the semi-finals and that was enough to put them second in the standings despite the finals loss to Old Blue. NYAC were also in contention but fell just short.

In that crucial match against Mystic River Bulldog Rugby went ahead 14-7 at halftime thanks to a strong effort from Tim Stanfill. Bulldog are a sevens specialist team that has brought in a few players this summer like Stanfill. The match remained close in the second half with a missed conversion from Mystic River being the only difference in the match.

New York have solidly been the top team on the women's series and finished it off with another tournament win. They have qualified for Minneapolis along with Beantown who edged out Old Blue.
