South 7s Qualifier Recap

The South 7s are wide and varied. Each of the sub-regions has their own series leading up to the 7s qualifiers next month. Up this week were qualifiers in the True South and the Carolinas.

In the Carolinas it was the Queen City 7s in Charlotte, North Carolina. The home side Charlotte won that tournament by beating Southern Pines three tries to two. That match went to overtime. For Southern Pines it was a positive result despite the loss. They lost to Charlotte earlier in the day. It's still early but Charlotte seem like the favorites to make it out of the Carolinas. The two top teams from each region advance of their respective qualifiers.

In the True South New Orleans won the NOLA 7s beating Optimus 19-12. The semi-finals saw Optimus beat Birmingham and New Orleans beat Memphis. NOLA are also one of the favorites to make it to the South final. Optimus are from Atlanta and would play in the Georgia sub-region.
