Denver Barbarians Win OMBAC 7s

The Denver Barbarians warmed-up for their quest for Frontier title with a win in a SoCal qualifier over the weekend. Because they aren't in the Pacific South the top points for the competition went to Belmont Shore who finished in second place. Home side OMBAC took second in the qualifier points followed by Orange County and Santa Monica.

Denver came to the tournament with a strong squad that included Eagle 7s player Michael Al-Jiboori and Ke'Von Williams. It was the speedy Williams that was the key early as the team beat Santa MOnica 27-0 in their tournament opener. They then followed that up with a 19-0 win over OMBAC. Al-Jiboori had two tries with Williams adding another on. Nic Boyer was there for two of the conversions. Pool play finished with a 47-0 win over LA.

In the semi-finals the Barbarians beat the Orange County Ravens 24-17 in their closest match of the tournament. They finished with a 19-5 win over Belmont Shore who beat OMBAC in the semi-finals.
