Always a major fundraiser for the U.S. Rugby Foundation's youth rugby programs, this year's U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, a first-time collaboration between the U.S. Rugby Foundation, USA Rugby and USA Rugby Trust, will also benefit the youth rugby programs supported by USA Rugby and the Rugby Trust.

“The Foundation is looking forward to collaborating with USA Rugby and the USA Rugby Trust on this year’s U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame Induction Dinner," said U.S. Rugby Foundation Executive Director Brian Vizard. "All three organizations want to grow youth rugby and see more kids playing the game as they are the future of our sport. Coming together on the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner will hopefully be the first of many cooperative ventures in the years to come. It’s another outstanding group of inductees this year and I hope the rugby community will come out in force to help us honor the Class of 2017.”

USA Rugby CEO, Dan Payne, shared similar sentiments.

“I’m personally very happy our organizations are working together on this event and I’m confident it will be a partnership we can build on moving forward that will, collectively, assist in growing the game in our country. From a symbolic perspective this serves as an illustration of what we all need to work to do on a more frequent basis across our country; partner, align and work toward growing our game together.”

The U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame Class of 2017 includes the victorious 1991 U.S. Women's Rugby World Cup Team; past U.S. Eagle players Steve Finkel, Dave Hodges, Tim O'Brien, Candi Orsini, and Tommy Smith; former U.S. Eagles Manager, Ed Schram Sr.; USA Rugby Medical Committee Chairman, Dr. Lyle Micheli; long-serving referee, Jim Russell; and rugby administrator and coach, Jay Waldron.

Congratulations to the Class of 2017 who are joining the 44 who have already been inducted into the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame. The members of the Class of 2017 were elected by the USRF Board of Trustees after receiving a record number of nominations. Like the six classes of inductees previously inducted, the Class of 2017 have made a lasting mark on United States rugby. Nominees not selected will be re-submitted to selection committee next year.
