SDSU, Arizona Win DI-A Playoff Matches

Photo: Connie Hatfield
San Diego State and Arizona have advanced to the next round of the DI-A finals. The Aztecs beat Utah 41-31 while the Wildcats beat Air Force 51-7. San Diego State will make the trip to DI-A powerhouse St. Mary's while Arizona make the trip to Baylor.

The San Diego State-Utah match was one a lot of people had circled on their calendar. Both teams love to attack and it was on full display in San Diego. The Aztecs took at 7-0 lead before Utah responded to go up 12-7. San Diego State would soon retake the lead and never relinquish it. Utah hurt themselves with a yellow card but were still able to mostly keep things close. Still, San Diego State was always able to keep a decent cushion.

In the other match Arizona was simply dominant over Air Force. The DI-A quarterfinals will be Lindenwood at Life, BYU at Indiana, SDSU at St. Mary's, and Arizona at Baylor. If you are Lindenwood and Life there are some legitimate questions whether or not it's fair two top five teams play each other so early.
