At the start of the match Australia made them work for it as they dug in but having the bulk of the possession pushed the Eagles toward something good. That something good was a phenomenal Perry Baker try that got the crowd on its feet. The first break came from Folau Niua before he passed to Baker who made the sidestep of the Australian defense look easy.

Next it was Danny Barrett's turn. Getting the ball deep in his own end he took advantage of a slip by an Australian player and then fended off another to go 80 meters for the score. The conversion missed but the Eagles held a 17-0 halftime lead.
The second half started out with a bang. Maka Unufe grabbed the restart and turned past the defense for the easy score. Soon after he simply outran the Australian defense to put the Eagles up 29-0. As the saying goes, 'as Unufe goes, so go the Eagles' and he was on fire. Australia did score a late try but it only mattered to the U.S. defensive pride as the Eagles notched a great win.
The U.S. will now play Argentina at 2:30 p.m. et/11:30 a.m. pt.
After the match Madison Hughes was happy with the results.
