Men's Elite: Tribe Beat Serevi Selects In Extra Time

Tribe are the Men's Elite champions after defeating the Serevi Selects in extra time at the Las Vegas Invitational. Tribe, who are a feeder team to the Australian national team similar to American ODAs, are worthy winners. They were clinical all weekend and beat some of the top teams in America, including the Serevi Selects twice. It was a disappointing loss for the Selects who had the likes of Shalom Suniula, Mike Palefau, and Peter Tiberio on their roster.

The Serevi Selects got out to a strong start as quick ball movement set up Tiberio for a try under the posts. Suniula nailed the easy conversion and Serevi held a 7-0 lead. On the restart William Rasileka grabbed the ball and strolled in to make it 14-0.

In the second half it was a different story. Tribe slowly worked their way back into the match and had a couple of shouts for a try. Eventually they finally got their try. They then had another as the kicked the ball out of the ruck and chased it down for the score. 14-14. Serevi had an opportunity late in the match but couldn't convert. Instead it was Tribe that would score in extra time for the win on a nice chip and chase.
