American Teams Set For Vancouver Rugby Festival

Several American teams will be playing in the Vancouver Rugby Festival this weekend. The tournament is the Canadian version of the LVI and is meant to attract top club teams alongside the main Sevens Series event inside BC Place. The most high profile of the American teams in the competition is the Women Falcons. They will take on South Africa Women's Select, the Maple Leafs, and the Stars in the Women's Elite.

The Falcons are made up of largely untested players from the college, club, and even high school ranks. Two, Kelsi Stockert and Bulou Mataitoga were on the Eagles team in Vegas last week. There are several players that have experience, however. Nicole Strasko has been on the Eagles 7s before and Nate Serevi is a player seen as a potential breakthrough player.

The Women's Elite tournament starts today and stretches over tomorrow where each team will play six matches.

Falcons: Sui A'au, Cassidy Bargell, Sarah Buonopane, Jennine Duncan, Megan Foster, Mata Hingano, Bulou Mataitoga, Maryjane Pasioles, Megan Sanders, Nate Serevi, Kelsi Stockert, Nicole Strasko

The Men's Elite will have several top Canadian teams but only the Stars will represent the United States. Other American teams participating include the Central Washington women's team in the Women's Open, the Portland Old Boars in the Over 40s, and the Washington Loggers in the U-18 Girls.
