Rumor: John Mitchell Linked With Oyonnax

It seems like it's always silly season regarding coaches and now the rumors have Eagles head coach John Mitchell in sight. According to multiple short reports out of France Mitchell has been linked with the Oyonnax head coaching position that will come open at the end of the year. Mitchell is curently under contract with the Eagles through the World Cup but if he left it wouldn't be the first time an Eagles coach has left before his contract was up. Scott Johnson only lasted a year before he bolted to Europe. It should be stressed that this is being reported in France and they don't always have a reputation for being accurate.

Oyonnax are currently in the top spot in the Pro D2 and look set for promotion back to the Top 14. According to the reports Mitchell has also been under consideration by other teams in France. If he does leave the program it will put the Eagles under the gun to hire a new coach in a limited time. Coaching the Eagles is a tough gig, especially for overseas coaches who may be accustomed to more resources. Mitchell, like all Eagles coaches, has had to undergo an adjustment in coaching the Eagles over the last year but all indications are that he is settling in and is even going to be based in the U.S. full-time moving forward.
