Lindenwood Returns Successful From Colorado
Coming off a week in which they were disappointed by a loss to Central Washington the Lindenwood Lions responded with a strong showing in Colorado with wins over the University of Colorado and the Air Force Academy. Led by players likes Chance Wenglewski, Nick Feakes, and Lorenzo Thomas the Lions handled the Buffalos 53-7. The Lions were up 17-0 at halftime after tries from Chris Kelland and Feakes as well as a penalty from Feakes. In the second half is where they really saw success piling in six tries. Against the Air Force Academy it went the way of the Lions early and often. Alexander Augsburger had a hat-trick as did Cristian Rodriquez. The final score was 84-0.
Nick Feakes said after the Air Force match: "Air Force were a quality side that liked to move the ball. They played some very good physical rugby and spread the ball well. We managed to string together some good phases, get quick ball thanks to our forward pack and score a few tries. It's nice to bounce back and play some attacking rugby after being starved of possession against Central Washington. This weekend helped us get over that loss. Cristian Rodriguez was magic down his wing and scored some tries that very few players in college rugby could have scored. The score doesn't reflect the quality of the game. Air Force were a well-coached, extremely disciplined team."
