Three more candidates for a TIAR Award. This time it's for Youth Player of the Year.
Ben Cima: Among the many milestones of growth Cima had this year it was his ability to step up in the big moment that really impressed. With qualification to the JWRT on the line Cima stepped up to kick a massive penalty against Canada last February. Still, it wasn't just that kick, it was his play throughout the whole match, setting up teammates, making important kicks, and being a leader, that was truly impressive. Cima may not have played in PRO Rugby like our other two candidates but he did lead Rocky Gorge to an amazing season and was justly rewarded with a spot in the Selects side at the APC. Next stop is a permanent place in the Eagles.
Hanco Germishuys: Like Cima, Germishuys is no stranger to the Eagles development platform. He has played at nearly all levels for the U.S. and only continues to get better. Germishuys had a whirlwind year spending time in South Africa, with the Glendale Raptors in the PRP, and then in PRO Rugby with Denver where he scored six tries. Even at a young age he did not seem out of place in the competition and was even one of the better performers. We're expecting this year to be a breakout year for Germishuys with the Eagles.

Mason Pederson: If Cima and Germishuys were relatively known products heading into the year Pederson was not. However, he went from playing with Arizona to playing with the Junior All-Americans, to a PRO Rugby contract, to getting time with the Selects during the Americas Pacific Challenge. That is quite a year for a player at a position in which the Eagles need depth. It was all done thanks to the hard work of Pederson to put himself in a spot to take on the next challenge. The moment we knew we liked Pederson was during a PRO Rugby game where he wasn't afraid to toss it up to protect his teammate. Despite being so young it showed a level of fearlessness that has taken him far.
