Eagles Abroad Notes: Hilterbrand, Kearns, MacGinty

A few notes to pass along regarding some Americans overseas.

Hilterbrand on Australian Baa-baas

James Hilterbrand is going to get a chance to go up against Brumbies in pre-season play after being named to the Australian Barbarians side. The Baa-baas team is made up of players from the NRC that are not on Super Rugby contracts. Hilterbrand has been a key contributor for the North Harbour Rays over the past few years. The Barbarians will play the Barbarians at the end of the week. Hilterbrand played with the Waratahs on an emergency basis last season. He previously spent time with the Western Force.

Kearns Named Oxford Captain

College All-American Conor Kearns has been named the new captain of the Oxford rugby team. His was selected in a vote by his teammates. Kearns was previously at Trinity in Ireland before moving to studying for a master's degree in Pharmacology. Kearns was a substitute as Oxford lost to Cambridge in the Varsity Match in December. Kearns can play most positions on the back-row and he has been seen as a potential Eagle down the line.
