A couple of notes to pass along regarding a roster change for the ARC team and the Sydney 7s draw.
Jensen In, Mahoni Out
An injury has put Siaosi Mahoni out of action this week and is unavailable for the Eagles match against Uruguay on Saturday. As a result, BYU lock Matt Jensen, who was scheduled to join the team on their trip to South America, will now come in for the match. It's unclear what the injury to Mahoni is but considering the Eagles have been thin at certain numbers for the ARC having Jensen come in makes sense. Jensen will be back at BYU for the Brazil and Canada matches before re-joining the team as scheduled.
Sydney 7s Draw
The Eagles have been given a decent draw at this week's Sydney 7s. It comes after a very difficult draw in Wellington. The U.S. are in Pool D with Canada, Argentina, and Russia. By no means is it an easy pool (none are on the Series) but it has a lot of teams the U.S. has seen success against. Canada are coming off a very impressive fourth place showing. Argentina have been tough while the U.S. has generally had the better of Russia.
Stats guru Matt Trenary says the odds of the Eagles making the Cup quarterfinals are better this week than last week.
