Eagles Abroad: Weekend Review

Eagles Abroad is brought to you by Grubber, makers of fine sporting apparel.

Another weekend is in the books for Americans overseas. The only player on the scoresheet from the weekend was AJ MacGinty. He scored all of Sale's points with a sole penalty as the Sharks struggled against Exeter. Also in the Premiership Chris Wyles started and played another 80 minutes for Saracens. Titi Lamositele started and played more than half a match for the club. Unfortunately Saracens picked up a rare defeat. Nick Civetta was an unused substitute for Newcastle.

Over in the Pro12 Langilangi Haupeakui came off the bench once again for Glasgow. He has slowly earned the trust of the coaching staff as he has adapted to one of the top leagues in the country. Blaine Scully started for Cardiff and nearly played the entire match minus a yellow card. Too bad for him that yellow card was the difference in the match. In France Samu Manoa started and played a full match for Toulon as they rolled. David Tameilau started for Narbonne while Eric Fry came off the bench.

  1. Why in the world -- if McGinty is fit enough for the Premiership -- was he not in the #10 for the USA last month?

  2. He just got back to fitness. His first game back was last week. Sale probably didnt want his first game back from injury to be an international.

  3. Looks like Conor Kearns is on the bench for Oxford against Cambridge this week in the Varsity Cup.
