Eagles Picked For November Internationals

As expected Eagles head coach John Mitchell has named a mixed side of his team's three November internationals. Some players are only available for the match against the Maori All Blacks while others are only available for the matches in Europe. The bulk of the players are available for all three.

Two names in particular stand out on first glance at the roster. The first is Madison Hughes. The 7s playmaker has been looked at as a 15s player for while either as a fullback or scrumhalf. He's now going to get his chance to show what he can do. The other player is U.S.-eligible Marcel Brache. Born in Los Angeles but raised in South Africa Brache had a great year for the Western Force in Super Rugby. He can play on the wing or in the centers which will help the Eagles depth overall.

Other players coming back to the team include Al McFarland, Danny Barrett, and Folau Niua. The latter two will get a break from 7s duty to participate.

For nearly the first time in Eagles history every player will be a professional player. There are a few college players, including Matt Jensen and Bryce Campbell, but the only club players who did not play PRO Rugby or 7s last year are Nate Brakeley and Ben Cima.

Overall the Eagles will be missing their European stars for the Maori All Blacks match but will have them back for Europe. Brache, Cam Dolan, Langilangi Haupeakui, Samu Manoa, Taku Ngwenya, Thretton Palamo, Blaine Scully, and Dino Waldren are all only available for the final two matches.

All Three: Nate Augspurger, Chris Baumann, Nate Brakeley, Bryce Campbell, Todd Clever, Andrew Durutalo, JP Eloff, Lemoto Filikitonga, James Hilterbrand, Will Holder, Madison Hughes, Martin Iosefo, Matt Jensen, Tony Lamborn, Matai Leuta, Angus MacLellan, Alex Maughan, Al McFarland, Joe Taufete'e, Mikey Te'o, Steve Tomasin

Maori All Blacks only: Danny Barrett, Pat Blair, Ben Cima, Ahmad Harajly, Saoisi Mahoni, Folau Niua, Shalom Suniula

Maori All Blacks & Romania: Nick Civetta, Titi Lamositele

Europe only: Marcel Brache, Cam Dolan, Langilangi Haupeakui, Samu Manoa, Taku Ngwenya, Thretton Palamo, Blaine Scully, Dino Waldren

    1. He is hurt. Has been for a couple of weeks now which is why he has not played for Sale Sharks.

    2. How about an update on the 2015 World Cup squad? What's the status of players like; Seamus Kelly, Niku Kruger, John Quill? Why are they out of the mix?

  2. Hughes seems too small for 15. Eloff, Teo and even Scully are better fits there. I do like his creativity and quickness for 9 though.

And it's great to see Brache has chosen to play with USA. Center has always been a weak spot for the Eagles, so what a boost to get someone with Super Rugby experience.
