DI Recap: Mid-Atlantic and Midwest

It's time once again to take a run through DI club play.

Mid-Atlantic

The Fall portion of the Mid-Atlantic season wrapped up over the weekend with Rocky Gorge unsurprisingly finishing on top. They had a more difficult match than normal this season but it's all relative as they still emerged comfortable 46-21 winners. Ben Cima was very active once again for the side grabbing 16 points. Chris Kunkel was also active. Going into the shorter Spring anything can happen but with a runaway Fall and only five matches in the Spring Rocky Gorge have all but nailed down the top spot.

In the other matches in the region the Norfolk Blues and Schuylkill River drew 33-33. The Blues took a 19-12 lead into halftime and with just a few minutes to go led 33-26. However, a Bruce Dolan try and conversion i the 80th minute leveled things up for Schuylkill River. Also, Baltimore-Chesapeake beat Pittsburgh 17-8 in a tough match. Rocky Gorge, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, and Schuylkill River are the top four teams at the moment.

Midwest

Columbus did their part to finish at the top of the Midwest standings in the Fall with a 46-20 win over Milwaukee. The match was close for most of the time with Columbus only pulling ahead late. After trading scores Columbus held a 29-20 lead with 20 minutes to go. However, they soon ballooned that with two tries from Ryan Cochran and one from Taylor Howden.

Kansas City endured a disappointing Fall by their standards and after a 21-17 loss to Palmer will finish towards the bottom of the table hoping for a big Spring season. The Blues led until late in the match when Robert Aarestad scored a try and Gareth Lourens scored a penalty to give Palmer the win. Additionally the Chicago Griffins beat Cincinnati 38-29. The win keeps the Griffins near the top of the table. Lastly, the Lions beat Metropolis 36-34.
