American Teams Headed To Barbados 7s

Several American teams will kick off their winter 7s season in earnest in the next few weeks. Some will be playing at the New York 7s but more will be involved in the Barbados 7s. The tournament was previously held in Tobago but the move to Barbardos makes it more attractive for teams with direct flights to the busy island. American teams participating in either the men's or the women's brackets include Atlantis, the Northeast Academy, Phoenix, Scion Sirens, and the South Panthers. Canadian teams include Aptoella, Dog River Howlers, Toronto Saracens, and the Upright Rugby Rogues. Elite teams that have done well in the past and at other tournaments, like the Esher Golden Lions, Rugby Ecosse, and the Border Reivers. Teams from around the Caribbean will also be participating.

For teams like the Northeast Academy it's all part of their year long calendar. The Northeast in particular has been active in participating in tournaments like the Barbados 7s to help raise their level of play. Given the number of players that have emerged from the Northeast Academy over the last few years it seems worth it.
