Eagles Abroad: Weekend Review

Eagles Abroad is brought to you by Grubber, makers of fine sporting apparel.

It was another big weekend in the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup for Americans in Europe. Chris Wyles continued to be a stalwart for Saracens as the London side rolled to yet another victory. Saracens are truly looking like the dominant club in England this year. That title had gone to Samu Manoa's Toulon the last few years. Toulon beat Sale with Manoa coming off the bench and AJ MacGinty not seeing time. Blaine Scully did see more time and scored an early try as Cardiff earned a victory. Also seeing his first major time was Taku Ngwenya who similarly picked up a try. Americans also saw time in the British and Irish Cup.

Down in the Southern Hemisphere U.S.-eligible Marcel Brache helped lead the Perth Spirit to the National Rugby Championship title. The win caps off a busy year for Brache as he saw good time in Super Rugby and then a bulk of matches in the NRC. Unfortunately for the Americans in the Mitre 10 Cup the season came to a close with losses.
