Battaglia Earns Canada Contract

Former Cal standout Andrew Battaglia has gained his first professional contract. After starring for the Golden Bears in both 15s and 7s the last few years, helping them to a Varsity Cup and several CRC titles, the winger is one of the new players on centralized contracts for the Canada Sevens team. Battaglia is from Richmond Hill, Ontario and unlike many of his countrymen decided to play rugby at Cal. He hasn't seemingly been on the radar for Canada having not played for them at the youth level for years but this is now his opportunity as the Canada Sevens team rebuilds after the Olympics. If he features for Canada it could set up the rare occurrence of him potentially playing a former teammate at Cal.

Surfers Beat ORSU
Playoff positioning wasn't going to change in the WPL when San Diego traveled to Portland to play ORSU but it was still a good match in terms of momentum. The Surfers are in the playoffs and they did everything they could to head into the final weekend of the season with a 45-0 win. They are still second in the Blue Conference behind Glendale. ORSU are in third place.
