This year, Rugby East is packing heat. The addition of Delaware back into the mix heralded a number of changes to the overall look of the conference. Though the much talked about 1st and 2nd tier of the conference is still mostly in place, there are a number of stories to keep an eye on.

The top four teams in the conference last year were as usual, Kutztown, Penn State, Army and Wheeling Jesuit. Iona made a daring push toward that top flight in 2015, but looks to have lost a significant leadership group coming into 2016. The Bonnies have reworked their coaching structure significantly, and are looking to join Iona this year as a sort of middle tier in the conference.

With Wheeling also taking on a massive coaching change and Delaware now back in the mix, 2016 could be the year things do get shaken up in Rugby East. Both UB and WVU will be looking to stake their own claims as most improved team on the year, but readily admit they have more work to do.

Take the jump to read more.

All of that said, the top three teams from last year appear to have the motors humming in the pre-season. Their clashes together at the end of the year will almost certainly be the deciding factors on the final conference standings. All three have similar aspirations. KU and Penn State especially will make things interesting as their coaches have both stated the same goal.

To win the conference and go undefeated along the way.
