Tom Bliss Joins Richmond

Tom Bliss is back in England and will suit up with Richmond. Bliss is of course no stranger to England having played for Loughborough University and then for Wasps before making the move to the San Diego Breakers. The capped Eagle split the scrumhalf duties on the Breakers for Charlie Purdon, filling in when Purdon was injured and then after Bliss was injured, Purdon filling in. Bliss made his debut for the Eagles during the Americas Rugby Championship but previously captained the Junior All-Americans as they played in the Junior World Championship in the summer of 2013.

The move back to England should be a good one for Bliss. He'll be able to play at a very solid level in the RFU Championships and playing for promoted Richmond should give him the opportunity to get in playing time. Ronnie McLean helped Richmond gain promotion last and all indications are that he will be back this year as well. As with any player headed overseas from PRO Rugby there is a possibility that they will be able to return to the league next year.

  1. It will be interesting to see if he returns. The RFU Championship regular season ends in mid-April. So, he could still get in a good amount of time in PRO.
